When planning a getaway to the Sunshine Coast, accommodation is usually one of the first things you start looking for. While the breathtaking views and crisp waters are the main focus of your holiday, the importance of a good, stylish, holiday apartment can never be understated.

As you scan through listings, you will come across all sorts of options that use many different terms. The terminology can be a little bit confusing! After all, what exactly is the difference between a standard vs deluxe, or sub penthouse vs penthouse? Let’s compare our accommodation types and discuss the ideal holiday home for your trip.

The Typical Apartment at 84 The Spit

First, let’s look at the more “common” - or “typical” - types of apartment we offer. Here we have different names for how “modern” an apartment is. To be clear, they all have the same amenities, that being a full kitchen and laundry, a spacious lounge and dining area with TV and two bedrooms and two bathrooms. Each apartment also comes allocated with a carpark.

A “Standard” apartment has basic furnishings, decor and comforts. These apartments don’t have air conditioning and no fancy modern cons. However, they are great for keeping your accommodation costs down while still enjoying the very convenient position of 84 The Spit.

A “Deluxe” apartment is a step above, still with basic furnishings but with the added bonus of air conditioning! Some have little extras, like televisions in the bedrooms or newer bathrooms/kitchens. These still have a very reasonable nightly rate but with some extra comforts.

An “Executive” apartment is where you will find newer kitchens AND bathrooms. Newer furnishings and decor, most also have air conditioning. Here the prices may be a bit higher but your comfort levels will reflect that.

Lastly but definitely not the least, our “Superior” apartments are modern and well appointed with some of the most recent renovations across the building. Modern and often upmarket decor, newer furnishings and high end appliances, all come with air conditioning in the living areas. These factors set our “Superior” apartments apart from the “Executive” apartments. Although our apartments are all two bedrooms and two bathrooms, you do have the option of renting some of them out as one bedroom, one bathroom apartments for a slightly reduced nightly rate.

The Sub-Penthouse Apartment

Our “Sub-penthouse” is a luxurious, high-end apartment - even compared to our “Superior” apartments. This particular apartment is located on the penthouse (or 9th) floor of our building and looks directly over the beach and Point Cartwright. You’ve also got spectacular uninterrupted views right up to the Sunshine Coast Hinterlands. Designed and decorated by an interior designer, this apartment has all the mod cons; the airconditioning, the high end appliances, the most comfortable beds, a fireplace in the living area and beautiful coastal decor. There is a TV in each bedroom and living area.

Being a two bedroom apartment, you could easily share the cost of accommodation with friends or enjoy the taste of luxury (and a spectacular view) all to yourself.

The Penthouse Apartment

The “Penthouse” apartment is located on the top floor on the Surf Club side of the building and offers guests the definition of panoramic views. Accessible via a curved flight of stairs from the landing of the 9th floor; our Penthouse apartment has four generous sized bedrooms, two large bathrooms, and an extended balcony that gives you the maximum level of privacy since you don’t have neighbours above you. The four bedrooms are as follows: Master bedroom with Queen bed and Ensuite, an additional Queen room and two twin single bed rooms - sleeping a total of 8 guests. The Penthouse has also been refurbished with a large, well equipped kitchen and up to date appliances throughout. It also boasts air conditioning in the bedrooms to keep you comfortable, even on the hottest sub tropical nights.

There is also the option of adding the penthouse studio apartment which would increase the bedroom total to five, bathrooms to three and total guest numbers to 10. The “Studio” is air conditioned, has a Queen bed with ensuite, kitchenette with dishwasher and a full fridge. Comfy couch for watching TV and a small table setting to relax and enjoy a meal. The small outside balcony is a perfect place for a cup of tea as you take in the beach and sea view.
